Beer Guy here!
Loooook.... I've had a few ginger beers in my life, and, I'll be honest, it's not a style I make an effort to seek out. It's just not my thing. That being said, it's Left Hand Brewing, home to Wake Up Dead, Twin Sisters, aaaaand Fade To Black! Give credit where credit is due.
Let's get to it!
You don't have to love ginger to love Good Juju, but you can't hate ginger either. Plain and simple. If you're not opposed to the spicy flowering plant, Good Juju is a really great Summer offering. It's light. It's easily session-able. It's not overpoweringly aromatic and it's extremely refreshing! My only complaint is that it's not in a can. Hey! Why isn't this in a can???
Heads up! If you're going to give Good Juju a shot, don't drink it ice cold. Do that and you're essentially wasting a beer. Let this one warm up to 40-45 Fahrenheit, as the label suggests. Missing out on the full flavor of this lightly hopped and ginger dominated brew would be a bad thing. Just wait a few.
The mouthfeel on Good Juju is fairly thin, but, again, considering the style, I'm not sure you would want much more body. I'll grab a couple of these and set 'em aside for the Dog Days of August when I need something lacking aggressiveness and heat, but something that actually tastes like a good craft brew.
Based on both style and my eagerness to jump in a pool, I'd place Good Juju in the low 90's. My advice: pick up this limited, seasonal release from Left Hand while it's still available. Cheers!
